University work This essay elaborates on how successful the regional system in Arab states was. It identified the League of Arab States as having established an effective regional system in its early years but it also identified that the quitting of Egypt from the League and the Gulf Wars as turning points that marked the downturn of the League. It concludes that although a common identity drove the Arab states to form such a regional system, individual Arab states have nevertheless valued their security and interests more than pan-Arab unity.
